Visionary Storytelling
Join us for a heart-warming evening of archetypal storytelling, designed to stoke your creative fire. As the late poet Muriel Rukeyser famously wrote: “The world is made of stories, not atoms.” On this special night, you are invited to come and be nourished by this source of primal sustenance. Marion, the member of Groundfloor is bringing a guest storyteller and musician, Rich Mertes, to warm our hearts with the ancient myths and the magical sound of his flute.
What Awaits You:
Listening to Stories and Flute: Immerse yourself in a collection of tales shared by Rich Mertes and Marion. These stories, centered around creativity, are meant to guide you in shaping your vision for the coming year. Rich will also offer his flute music to deepen into your vision, awareness and experience.
Creative Expression: After the stories and music flow through you - we’ll invite you to share a response. Perhaps a theme, a character or a moment moved you? You’ll have a chance to express yourself through art, movement, poetry or music. Or you can simply witness and receive.
Enjoy Communal Sharing: We’ll end our evening by weaving together the creative strands from each of us into a collective tapestry as we share our creative responces in community. This space is one of openness and support—there is no pressure to share, only the encouragement to express what feels right for you in the moment.
Thresholds and passages are empowered by the meaning we give to them. With the coming of the New Year, as we collectively celebrate another trip around the Sun, let’s use this time to consciously compose the next chapter in the story of our lives. As cosmologist Brian Swimme says: “what many animals know automatically from their DNA, humans need to learn via the transmission of stories”. Let’s come together and celebrate life at evolution’s growing edge.
Art materials will be provided. Bring a journal and a pen, or a musical instrument of your choice.
